The entire Peru/Bolivia trip was about 3.5 weeks long. The following is a timeline of the trip, along with links to pictures: Sept. 18. Leave Vancouver, BC. Fly to Lima, Peru, via Dallas, Texas. Sept. 19. Leave Lima, Peru, for Cusco. Sept. 20. Explore Cusco and environs. Visit ruins of Puca Pucara, Tambo Machay and Saqsaywaman Sept. 21. Daytrip from Cusco to Pisac, Ollyantaytambo, and Chinchero in the Urubamba River Valley. Sept. 22. Leave for the 4-day hike to Macchu Picchu. Sept. 26. Leave Cusco for La Paz, Bolivia, via night bus. The bus ride took a total of 13 hours, and we passed through the cities of Puno and Copacabana. Sept. 28. Leave La Paz by 3-hour bus ride to Oruro, then another 9.5-hour bus trip through the middle of the night to Uyuni. Sept. 29. Begin 4-day Salar de Uyuni trip through the Bolivian desert in a big Chevrolet Scottsdale 4x4. Oct. 2. Leave Uyuni via night train back to Oruro. 6.5-hour ride. Oct. 3. Oruro to La Paz via 4-hour bus. Oct. 4. Leave La Paz via bus to Copacabana, Bolivia. Take ferry to Isla del Sol to explore the island. Oct. 5. Copacabana to Arequipa, Peru via bus. In Arequipa, visit the Santa Catalina Convent and the Public Market. Oct. 7. Arequipa to Nazca, via bus. Take a flight in a Cessna airplane to see the Nazca Lines. Oct. 8. Nazca to Lima, via collectivo (something like a chartered car). Oct. 10. Fly home to Vancouver from Lima.
